The Perez Kitchen – Aquia Harbor
A complete structural and design transformation — turning a closed-off brick core into an open-concept showpiece.
🏠 Problem
The Perez family had just purchased a beautiful home in Aquia Harbor, but their kitchen was boxed in by a massive double-sided brick wall that closed off the entire main floor. The cabinets were outdated, storage was limited, and the space felt disconnected — you couldn’t hear anyone on the other side of the wall.
🔧 Solution
I started by re-supporting the kitchen from underneath, building a mini-deck structure to reinforce the flooring and properly support the refrigerator. Once stabilized, I wrapped the area in plastic and carefully cut through the brick wall inside the home — opening it up to create a stunning pass-through between rooms. The stove area was restructured, new electrical lines were installed, and fresh can lights and pendants brought modern light and warmth into the space.
✨ Result
The transformation completely changed the flow of the house. The once-isolated kitchen is now the center of family life — open, bright, and functional. The brick pass-through became a custom architectural highlight, and the new layout finally gave them the storage and openness they wanted. This kitchen truly became the heart of their home.

Jacob’s kitchen in Stafford hadn’t been updated in over 25 years. The layout felt cramped, the lighting was poor, and the space just didn’t match the energy of the rest of the home. His mother helped design the remodel, but the kitchen needed someone who could make it all come together.

JB Custom Remodeling took cabinets from another kitchen and custom-fit them perfectly into this one. I opened up a wall to create a look-through from the doorway, built a custom bench with hidden storage to match the room, rewired the entire kitchen, and added recessed can lights and pendant fixtures for a bright, modern look.

The transformation gave Jacob a completely refreshed kitchen that feels brand-new while keeping his family’s personal touch. The lighting and open design make the space warm and inviting — a total upgrade from a dated layout to a custom-crafted gathering space.
